John Frederick Lott Snr Double Bass

This instrument has been my main musical companion since 2008, and I have done an awful lot of work on slowly improving it since then. Slowly but surely it has become a monster of an instrument, and one I’m proud to pull out of the case everyday I work with it. I’m told by my colleagues it has a very wide sound (though under the ear it is very clear and on the bright side) and I’m sometimes unaware just how much I can be heard when I play this bass. It’s an orchestral workhorse, being punchy and loud, but when I really need it to this bass can whisper clearly. I hope to have many more years together on stage with this lovely, early (pre 1820) example from John Lott Snr.
