Schubert Symphonies Vol.1

The sessions for this recording was the first thing I did at CBSO as a permanent member of the orchestra. It was also over these few days of recordings that I “discovered” my main double bass bow, a lovely stick by Eugene Sartory. These recordings have been really well received, with two volumes now available, and more to come. I find Ed Gardner great in this repertoire, and he genuinely collaborates on these symphonies with the orchestra- willing to change his approach to things or his mindset to them if a different or more appropriate way appears during the sessions.
